The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam, the Afrika Museum in Berg en Dal and Museum Volkenkunde in Leiden, the Netherlands are museums about people. Together they form the Nationaal Museum voor Wereldculturen (NMVW).

With our mission to foster a better understanding of what it means to be a global citizen, our museum cares for and displays an extensive, world-renowned collection that reflects not only the diversity and dynamism of cultures globally but also their interdependence. We are one of the leading museums of our kind in Europe and the national focal point for the collection, research and display of ethnographic collections in the Netherlands.

As a museum about people we see ourselves as important players in contemporary discussions around questions of heritage, globalisation, interculturalism, migration and transnationalism.

We are currently looking for a dynamic, highly motivated and innovative individual to lead a multidisciplinary team of curators.
