 <title>Dr. Nicolas Garnier appointed as a Lecturer at the University of Papua New Guinea, Port Moresby</title>

 <description>&lt;p&gt;The University of Papua New Guinea in Port Moresby, recently appointed as a lecturer in the Department of Visual Anthropology Anthropology, Sociology &amp;amp; Archaeology, Dr. Nicolas Garnier.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Garnier, author of a PhD thesis on the ritual system and the art of Chambri, a hot spot of Sepik art, is teaching in English and finds that publications in English on the Arts of the Pacific are hard to come by in Port Moresby.  <description>&lt;p&gt;My name is Oliver Lueb and I do work at the Rautenstrauch-Joest-Museum &amp;ndash; Cultures of the world in Cologne, Germany. I am currently preparing a basic survey trip for my PhD thesis about aesthetics, art and material culture in Santa Cruz, Solomon Islands. In the hope for exchanging information and contacts in this specific area, I am looking for scholars, who are working in the Solomon Islands, too.&lt;br /&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University announces the appointment of Dr. Barbara Thompson as the new Phyllis Wattis Curator for the Arts of Africa and the Americas. Her work begins at the Center on September 2, 2008. The National Gallery of Australia today announced the appointment of Dr Michael Gunn to the newly created position of Senior Curator, Pacific Arts. &lt;br /&gt;
&amp;nbsp;&lt;br /&gt;
Dr Gunn joins the National Gallery of Australia from Missouri, America where he has been Associate Curator, Arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas at the Saint Louis Art Museum since 1999.&amp;nbsp; &lt;br /&gt;
