Department of Art and Art History

As part of Intersections program at the University of Hawaii at Manoa department of Art and Art History, New Zealand based artist Michel Tuffery will visit the university as a guest artist from September 8- 18, 2009. Michel Tuffery is a sculptor of Samoan, Tahitian and Cook Island descent, who creates work inspired by the relationship between indigenous cultures and environmentalism. Tuffery has been awarded several national and international art prizes, public commissions and residencies, and has held numerous exhibitions throughout the Pacific. Intersections developes and sustains a dynamic guest artist/scholar program that supports and enriches the curriculum of the UHM art community at large. Filipe Tohi will join the program coming next Spring 2009. [Adapted from Intersections at the University of Hawaii Manoa blog, 06-11-09]
